For media editing and authoring, I use Adobe Photoshop. It is renowned as one of the killer applications from Adobe systems and has been described as an industry standard for graphic design professionals. I also use it for image/photo manipulation an editing technique used to create digital illusions.

One thing I particularly like is Photoshop's native format, PSD. It broadly supports the making of menus and buttons for DVDs. Apart from that, these Photoshop files can also be exported to and from Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, for special effects, backgrounds, textures, and so on, for television, film, and the Web.

I am currently using Adobe Photoshop CS3 and will soon transition to CS4. Having grown with this program over the years, I have seen great improvements over previous versions. Today, one is able to work more productively, edit with unrivalled power, and composite with breakthrough tools. New features propagating productivity include streamlined interface, improved camera raw, better control over print options, enhanced PDF support, and better management with Adobe Bridge.

If you are a CG junkie like me, you will even appreciate the editing tools new to CS3, like the clone source palette and nondestructive smart filters, and other features such as the brightness/contrast adjustment and vanishing point module that have recently been enhanced…how cool is that!
